Dies and DSP

I love it when Stampin’ Up! offers Designer Series Paper that coordinates not only with the stamp set, but also the dies! You just line the die up on the beautiful DSP and run it through your die cutter. You end up with the most beautiful images that makes people wonder, “How did she do that?” Well, I’ll never tell :o).

I definitely knew the Hues of Happiness Suite had dies that you could use to cut flowers out of the DSP, but I DID NOT know the Abigail Rose Suite was another one that you could use the dies to cut out images in the paper! I happened to look in the catalog for some inspiration using this suite and that’s where I discovered they used dies to cut out images from it too. I jumped on it for my first card!

I used Sarah Sand for my first layer of card stock then I cut the images out from the DSP using the die that is a cluster of flowers and leaves. The DSP was sort of an off white color, so I pulled a piece of Shimmery White card stock out and used the same die to cut the image again. I tried to keep it somewhat in line with how I cut the images out in the beginning. I used the long adhesive foam strips to mount the Shimmery White card stock onto the layer of Sarah Sand. The foam strips give more height than the regular Dimensionals. I needed a card for a wedding shower I'm going to on Sunday, so I used the Best Wishes sentiment stamp for the greeting and I layered it onto the Natural Finish ribbon that was part of the suite. I loved how it turned out.

I wanted to use one of the individual flower dies for my next card, so I knew my sentiment piece would have to be big enough to hold the image I wanted to use. I ended up using a color blocking technique and Petal Pink card stock for the flower. Love Early Expresso and Petal Pink together. I love this entire pack of DSP. These soft, natural colors are just my style. I can't wait to make more cards using this set.

The last card I made using this set was just a quick stamp using Smokey Slate ink on one image and I cropped it out using the die shaped just like the image. No coloring, or shading...it's such a pretty image, it's able to stand on its own. I did die cut the edge of the DSP to make it interesting and it's also part of the Abigail Rose Suite.

Hope these cards inspire you to consider purchasing the Abigail Rose Suite. I'm already glad I did.

Be sure to check out my website for gently used stamps and dies for sale or free with a purchase from my online Stampin' Up! store. You can make a purchase and email me the stamp set or bundle you'd like to get free. You can see what I have to offer here but check back often because I have to keep making room for the new stuff lol. I'll also be listing some Paper Pumpkin Kits for sale. These kits come with everything you need (including an ink spot) to make anywhere from 8 to 12 cards or projects each. They make great gifts for young teens, beginning crafters, elderly crafters, and just about anybody who likes to create. The only thing you will need to complete these projects is a stamping block. I would suggest Stampin' Block D for a size that will hold just about any Paper Pumpkin Kit Stamp. These are a great value and fun too!

Take care and happy crafting!
